CAMDEN | NW1
With its simple, spacious and well lit green interior, Vietnamese newbies Anmee are just a few months old, and have quickly learnt to enjoy the weekday afternoon Camden rush.
Everything on their menu comes in under our magic £8 mark, from pho (noodle soup), to banh mi (stuffed Vietnamese baguettes), to bun (noodle or rice salads with a protein).
We recommend choosing one of the bun options that come in at £5.95 or less (these include BBQ pork, grilled chicken, Vietnamese chicken curry, stewed beef, slow-braised mackerel, aubergine and tofu), and going for their 'make it a meal' option, where for another £1.95 you can add a summer roll with prawns, avocado or tofu, and a soft drink.
In my bowl, delicately flavoured sweet BBQ pork, crispy onions, peanuts, a fried spring roll, and fresh chopped vegetables, all on a large helping of sticky white rice I slathered in chilli sauce and sweet chilli vinaigrette. A great example of multi-layered Vietnamese flavours in a busy London spot.
