At cute and cosy Polish restaurant Miod Malina, you'll find a daily-changing two course homemade weekday lunch special for £7.50. The first is always a type of hearty soup, with a broth that packs a real punch. Main courses are usually meaty, and tend to involve chicken, beef, pork, or a goulash.
During my visit I was treated to a cauliflower-based soup, but dumpling and beetroot soup often feature too. My main was a tenderised chicken schnitzel fried to a satisfying crunch. Some basic salted fries and an unexpectedly juicy carrot mash were welcome accompaniments.
A solid feed, and devout locals can pay a discounted and up front £32 a week to secure their lunches from Monday through to Friday.
