BROCKLEY MARKET SE4 | MALTBY STREET MARKET SE1 | LEATHER LANE MARKET EC1 | LOWER MARSH MARKET SE1
The sandwich is a glorious thing and everyone has their favourites. The beauty of a good one lies in its unrivalled simplicity and flexibility, which is limited only by your imagination. For some like the folk at Sub Cult, that imagination is next level.
With four epic offerings, you're sure to find one for you. Mine is, and always will be, the Sub-Marine - a brioche roll filled to the brim with calamari, scallops and pulled pork shoulder, before being finished off with a zesty slick of homemade lemon, gherkin, dill and parsley mayo. And be sure to ask for crackling!
Point to note: this sandwich just won the Best Sandwich category at The British Street Food Awards final as voted by a judging panel of Michelin Star chefs, so you can't go far wrong.
It is as good as it sounds, if not better. You will leave fighting the urge to order another, a battle I routinely lose.
