Pine nut, feta and corugette pizza from Four Hundred Rabbits

It took a while for sourdough pizza to make its way to Crystal Palace. But hallelujah, in late 2015, it burst onto the scene in the form of Four Hundred Rabbits - and boy was it worth the wait. 

There are few things more satisfying than freshly cooked quality dough with a hint of smokiness you can only get from the 450C wood-fired treatment these pizzas receive. They're then topped with San Marzano DOP tomatoes, fior di latte mozzarella, and seasonal British ingredients. 

Their sourdough is made with five different flours, including rye and five cereal flour, rather than just white flour and yeast. This gives it a glorious and deeper flavour, much like it does in bread.

Toppings change throughout the year, but there are usually a couple of pizzas that fall below our magic £8 mark. If ever in doubt, their margherita is always a great shout, with tomatoes, fior di latte, basil and olive oil. But on my visit I went for the pine nut, feta and courgette combo - a total winner.

It's also worth noting these guys are family friendly and have gluten-free basis. They don't take reservations but use a smart app that allows you to go away while you wait, calling your phone when your table is ready. They also sell beer from small breweries, Gelupo ice cream, and Allpress coffee. It's basically hard to go wrong at 400 Rabbits.
