BLOOMSBURY | WC1
It’s always great to come across a restaurant where the clientèle are mostly expats seeking a home away from home; this is one of them, an absolute gem.
Chang’s is simple in its design and looks like a typical Central London Chinese joint, but the food tells a different story.
The main attractions are their crafted, hand-pulled noodles, made with no use of machinery, lending to a particularly springy bite.
Our pick was the shan xi yo po - a giant bowl of these noodles with melt-in-the-mouth slices of beef and crunchy vegetables, all held together with a sticky, sweet and peppery sauce. We also hear the signature lamb noodle soup from China’s north-west regions, with its creamy and savoury stock, is a winner too.
If you’re looking for authentic cuisine in the heart of the city, you’ll want to pay this place a visit.
