KENTISH TOWN | NW5
Summer has now started to make an appearance, and with that, so has a change in the food we crave. When it comes to NW5, the bun (rice noodle) salad lunches from family-run Vietnamese deli, Carrots + Daikon in Kentish Town, make for perfect warm weather eating. Cold rice vermicelli, freshly cut salad, sweet and tender chunks of roast pork, and a hefty drizzle of a sauce of your choice from hoisin, chilli, fish, or peanut.
This lunch box didn’t last long; I scoffed it down. Every mouthful was packed with flavour from the meat and sauce, with the portion size being more than enough for a filling lunch, that won’t slip you into a food coma after. You can change up the protein to various other meats including chicken, beef or even a veggie option of sesame garlic tofu (which looked amazing).
Carrots + Daikon also do a huge range of other Vietnamese dishes including the classic pho and banh mi, or you can replace the vermicelli in these salad boxes with fragrant jasmine rice.
Visit in the evening (6pm - 9pm), and the menu changes slightly, but mostly still remains under our magic £8 mark. Plus, they throw in an extra spring roll on rice dishes for the very hungry.
This is great local restaurant in Kentish Town and well worth popping into, for either lunch or dinner. Note: limited seating inside.
