Despite what some of August's weather may have lead you to believe, summer isn't over. When you're looking for a refreshing meal that's perfect for the heat, the Hawaiian-style sushi bowl known as poke is the way to go.
For £6.85 to take away, the vegan bowl from Tombo is a thing of beauty. Tofu, seaweed, hijiki (a sea plant) and matcha miso, combined with your choice of rice or courgetti, form a filling and delicious meal.
For under £8 still to take away, you can get a salmon, tuna or chicken teriyaki bowl that will also delight. Where many poke places over fill on quinoa or rice fodder, Tombo strikes a great balance between vegetables, carbs and protein, whichever bowl you go for.
And the best thing? No matter the weather, you can complete the experience with some matcha ice cream for when the sun shines, or a warming matcha latte if the weatherman says otherwise.
Note: Tombo have a third branch in South Kensington which has a broader café menu, and also does the poke bowls, but there they are priced beyond our magic £8 mark.
