CAMBERWELL | SE5
Theo's is another hit for Camberwell locals who are already spoiled with Stormbird, Silk Road and FM Mangal all within close proximity.
The sourdough pizzas here are plenty big enough for one person, and well priced, ranging from £5.50 for a marinara up to £10 for a calzone. Chestnut mushrooms with mozzarella, leeks (white pizza) and ex-Pizza East head chef Theo's finest sourdough, will set you back £8 and fill you up. As would the margherita for £6.50.
Chuck in some local Kernel or Orbit beer and you're laughing, though you should save a couple of quid for a drink at Stormbird over the road.
There are also some quirky starters to take notice of. Bombetta (meaty parcels of pork shoulder, pancetta and smoked mozzarella), wood oven onions (served up with creamy burrata and chillies), and tempting panuozzo fried dough ice cream sandwiches with quince custard, that all help Theo's stand out in a crowded London pizzeria pack.
