spinach tortellini in sage butter from Rossella, Kentish Town

A family-run local trattoria in the truest sense, Rossella is a neighbourhood favourite cooking up fresh, tasty and authentic Italian food.

The family have south Italian roots, and the owner of Rossella (Luca Meola) is the son of the owner of Luigi's in East London (Luigi Meola), which has been trading for over three decades. So what they do is very much in the blood.

Many of their pasta and pizza plates come in at our magic £8 mark anyway, but at lunch, the cheap eat options extend as they offer a slightly different menu. There are additional pasta dishes, as well as pizza, for just £7 including a drink (which even includes alcohol).

The spinach tortellini in sage butter I had came recommended, generously piled on my plate, with a bowl of parmesan to go crazy with. Perfectly cooked tortellini with a fabulous butter sauce, this made a terrific al fresco lunch to sit back and relax with.

I'd have no qualms about coming back in the evening, as the service was impeccable and the food delicious.
