SOHO | W1
You’re in Soho, need some tasty and cheap food, but you’re tired of the little takeaway eateries - I feel your pain. Give me a table, a chair and some peace and quiet any time.
La Porchetta Pollo is a little Italian eatery next to Eat Tokyo (the Japanese place with a perpetually long queue), and is a hidden gem I always tell my friends about. With an ability to make a reservation at short notice, and a menu spanning every type of pasta or pizza, this is one of my favourite spots in Soho. And even better, almost the entire menu is under £7.
I would normally recommend a specific dish rather than telling people to try anything from the menu, but I've been a number of times and I've never been disappointed. From penne all’amatriciana (bacon, onions, chilli) and gnocchi, to tortellini and lasagne. And their pizzas are freshly rolled and baked in the window too.
It's open until midnight every day, has a lower floor with loads of seating, and portions are generous enough that I often end up taking some of my dinner home. This place needs to be on your radar - I can't recommend it enough.
