Donburi is a Japanese take away unit serving a plethora of (mostly) rice-based lunches. From katsu curry to bento boxes, almost everything is £6-7.
Also on their menu is okonomiyaki - a thick and savoury Japanese pancake - for £5.90.
Constructed with layers, Donburi's version comes with a thin pancake base, is stacked high with fried noodles, beansprouts, crunchy white cabbage and salty bacon, and is finished with a layer of egg.
Generous helpings of thick and sweet okonomiyaki sauce, Japanese mayonnaise, and bonito flakes top it off, whilst the pickled ginger on the side is another good flavour contrast.
Although more than enough for a meal in itself, add-ons are cheap, taste good, and will require willpower to resist. Think vegetable gyozas (50p each), ebi prawns (£1 each), or juicy karage chicken skewers (£2).
Donburi shares an owner with its neighbouring unit Kano (another London Cheap Eats favourite), where you'll find a great selection of udon bowls under £8, and it's open until later. Note: minimum card spend £8, and there is limited outdoor covered seating in the arcade.
