This narrow shop front off Edgware Road has seen better days, but there's a solid bolthole for fans of Persian food within. Charred meats, vibrant salads and blistered breads are the main attractions, and the two mince skewers main for £7 is great value.

With it, the option of lightly salted saffron rice or a large piece of traditional flat bread, served on a platter with grilled tomato and your choice of succulent minced lamb or chicken. If you have some spare change and there are two of you, get a £3.50 cucumber yoghurt to share to help loosen it all up, or a mint yoghurt drink to wash it down for £1.50.

I don't often trust people who tell me everything on their menu tastes good, but I'm pretty sure Pareeq (the owner) is one of the few in town telling the truth. The meat is delivered by a halal butcher every day and marinated in imported Iranian spices for two hours before opening.
