When I hear the term "fast food", a few items spring to mind; burgers, chips and pizza.
These thoughts are not always positive, however, as the phrase has had more than its fair share of bad press thanks to the countless global, international, often poor-quality chains.
But fast food (or rather, food that is prepared with speed) need not always be bad, and places like Pizza Pilgrims are proof of this.
Starting out as a humble street food van, Pizza Pilgrims has morphed into a pizza juggernaut with several branches in London to add to their various market locations. They are a shining example of street trader turn brick-and-mortar success.
The quality of the products at Pizza Pilgrims have remained at such a high standard, that the only comparison one can make to its lesser "fast food" cousins is in price, where none is better value than the classic Margherita.
It's hard to imagine that the simple combination of fresh dough, tomato paste and fior di latte cheese could taste this good but here, the proof is in the pudding (well, pizza).

These guys don't take bookings, walk in only. Except at the Soho branch where they take two bookings per evening for groups of 8 or more in “The Crypt”. You can make this booking through their website. Also, their latest site in Shoreditch doesn't have a license to sell alcohol, so it's BYOB. Huzzah!
