BRICK LANE | E1
Lee Chau Le is a half Vietnamese half Chinese chef, and the man behind the small but mighty street food venture The Chunky Buddha. After clocking up kitchen experience in a handful of London restaurants for the past eight years, Lee now focusses on both private catering and his stall, launched with the help of Virgin StartUp.
Asian food is The Chunky Buddha's bag, with ingredients and flavours pulled from Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai cuisine. The resulting menu showcases vibrant and generous dishes like Lee's £5 duck and chicken nori wrap with avocado and egg, and the beautiful beast pictured, the Linh Linh fried red rice (a lot of rice) with egg and avocado, and your choice of grilled duck, chicken or tofu, for £7. We also really love the fact he can often be spotted trading with his mum.
The Chunky Buddha can be found at Brick Lane's Sunday Upmarket each week, but we suggest keeping tabs on Lee's social media account below, to see where else he might be popping up.
