BOROUGH MARKET | SE1
At Borough Market you can find pretty much any sort of food you want. But my number one spot there is multiple award-winning Gourmet Goat, serving up some of the tastiest street food I’ve had, and leaving me drooling just typing this introduction.
Based on Cypriot/East Mediterranean dishes, they showcase kid goat and rose veal in wraps (£5.50 - £7.50), in salads (£7.50 with goat kofte), or in bulgur wheat bowls (£6.80 with goat, £7.80 with veal).
Having worked my way through most of the menu, I can safely say pretty much every option is a winner. The grilled mature halloumi is fantastic. The goat kofte is incredible, with a real depth of flavour and texture. And the rose veal is addictive.
Throw in daily-changing freshly made salads, their homemade tzatziki, fresh chilli salsa, and smokey BBQ sauce, and you have genuinely fantastic food. Gourmet Goat deserves everyone's attention.
These guys also push for the ethical and sustainable consumption of kid goat and rose veal - more details on their website.
Note: some of the salad bowls in the picture include double meat with both veal and goat, which come in at around £10.
