lardo rice at Smoking Goat

lardo rice at Smoking Goat

Ben Chapman's second Smoking Goat in Shoreditch serves "Thai drinking food and comfort food, inspired by the late night canteens of Bangkok”. That's good news for London Cheap Eats readers as you can combine a couple of their simpler but still seriously good plates and stay under our magic £8 mark.

Get yourself an "Economy" curry (£4), or some zingy Fried Eggs (£3.20), and couple it with a generous portion of their outstanding Lardo Fried Rice (£3.50). Eater London describe it as a "must-order" dish. Their regular jasmine rice is just £2 and has unlimited refills, so you could swap that for the lardo fried rice (that's a big call) and chuck in a barbecue Tamworth skewer for £1.60, if you so wish.

Unlike the Soho original, there's tonnes of space at this Shoreditch site so you shouldn't have to wait long for table, or you can make a reservation.
