BRICK LANE E1 | SOUTHBANK CENTRE MARKET SE1 | BROADWAY MARKET E8
The street food game is a tough one these days, but there are still those vendors who have a concept so unique and do it so well, that even with all the competition, they remain peerless.
One such trader is The Frenchie. Without exaggeration, this is one of my favourite street foods - ever. With a product description that reads so well - "duck confit in a brioche bun with crispy duck skin scratchings, red onion chutney, Dijon mustard and rocket" - how could it not?
The confit duck is always juicy and tender and paired with the red onion chutney, provides a great salt and sweet contrast. Then there's that scratching which is not only glorious, but keeps textures interesting with the added crunchiness. The fun doesn't stop there; in addition to the above, you need to select your cheese - smoked cheddar, goats' cheese with truffle honey, or blue cheese with truffle honey.
This is absolute agony because both are winners. But my preference is the tanginess of the goat, adding yet another dimension to an already out-of-this-world dish.
