arrabiata (top) and Sicilliana (bottom) from Lamezia in Holloway

Have you managed to find that local Italian yet, the one that keeps you coming back with great pasta, crispy pizza and huge portions? I have, and let me tell you, it tastes like £6.50 of heavenly goodness, with a heavy sprinkling of parmesan.

Lamezia is an Italian staple on Holloway Road, playing host to keen locals who lap up their pasta and pizza. It's taken me a while to get round to checking it out, but it's easy to see why they have a regular crowd.

The pasta here is fantastic, with rich tomato-based sauces that show real care and attention, and cooked to just the right level of al dente. Portions are more than generous; loaded plates are sprinkled with parmesan and fresh parsley.

Expect lots of flavourful beef mince in the bolognese, a subtle chilli kick in the arrabbiata, and the pasta Siciliana with its aubergine sauce was on the verge of a revelation for me!

Lamezia also gets a lot of positive reviews for its pizza and a good few of them are below our magic £8 mark - I'll be trying them soon.

The restaurant has seating and is also available via Deliveroo. The pasta dishes come in at £6.50 or less, and daily specials hover around the £9/10 mark and are highly recommended.
