LONDON BRIDGE | SE1
Getting a good fix of Indian just got a whole lot easier, and cheaper, with a new take away lunch menu from Shad Indian Restaurant in London Bridge.
Head chef Mr Chowdhury recreates traditional Indian dishes – from the Himalayas to the Indian Ocean, and the Arabian Sea to the Bay of Bengal - drawing inspiration from all 22 regions of India.
Whilst their standard pricing is well above our magic £8 mark, their take away lunch menu, available Monday to Saturday 12pm to 2.30pm, is great value. There are five options in total, but only three we'd constitute as a full meal: lamb biryani with naan bread (£7.95), chicken biryani with naan bread (£7.95), or chicken curry with pilau rice, and naan bread (£6.95).
I opted for the third: one tub of light and aromatic pilau rice, a second tub of deep and rich curry with chunky pieces of sliced chicken breast, and a sweet and fluffy naan. Shad Indian is a top option if you're after a filling lunch on the move in that part of town.
