SPITALFIELDS | E1
Old Spitalfields Market recently underwent a big revamp and from this, The Kitchens was born.
A collection of ten existing London restaurants and traders serving contemporary street food at the heart of the market, this project has breathed new life into this historic centre of East London. It's also cemented the market as a haven for foodies and a London cheap eats bargain.
Today we focus on Northern European Rok, where you can not only pick up one of their signature cheese toasties, but also their next level fried potatoes, all for a magic £8.
The cheese toastie (£5) is beautiful in its simplicity packed with wild mushrooms, Swedish Vasterbotten cheese, pickles and radish; it’s a certified flavour bomb.
But the potatoes. Oh Lord, the potatoes... With umami-packed nori seasoning and a libbsticka (lovage) mayo, this could be the best way to spend £3 in town. No jokes.
Seating is limited to what you can find in the market but don’t let that stop you.
