Editor's Note
As is often the case with street food traders, these guys are on the move a lot. Take a look at the calendar on their website, or keep tabs on their social media accounts on the right, to find out where they'll be on any given day.

Every now and then, you come across a product which is so ahead of its time and so good, that it stands the test of time without any need for change and in the process, becomes an icon.

This is the Spit and Roast buttermilk fried chicken bap, with slaw and Korean hot sauce.

It is quite simply, peerless in the fried chicken sandwich game. All the meat they use is sourced from Gavin Peckover on Roman Road, and it's all free-range. The chicken is marinated overnight in buttermilk, then dipped into their secret coating, and deep fried to golden perfection.

Slathered in their unique Korean hot sauce, it's a flavour combination that's always satisfying. Once exclusive only to Brockley Market (which it still calls home), Spit and Roast can now be found across London.
