BRIXTON | SW9
In the evenings, Salon in Brixton's Market Row most certainly doesn't qualify for London Cheap Eats, serving up an awesome £33 per head, four course set menu. But on the weekend, they put on a pretty awesome and affordable spread for brunch.
Seasonal and inventive are the two guiding principles that dictate the cooking you find at Salon, with a strong focus on British ingredients, some of which are even grown, produced or foraged around Brixton.
At weekend during brunch, you could spend £6.50 on a single and filling plate of fabulous scrambled eggs with 'nduja on toast, or you could squeeze in more than one dish and still stay under budget, such as smashed avocado and a soft boiled egg on toast with super seeds and pickled chilli for £4.50 (smoked pig cheek lardons an extra £2), followed by warm banana bread with hazelnut ganache for £3.50.
IT'S ALL GOOD. Go nuts. Oh, and it's a rather lovely place to spend a morning. Plus, you can book. Brunch is available Saturdays and Sundays 10.30am until around 2pm.
