Furness Food's bomba paella

Fish and meat merchants Furness Food are based in Flookburgh in Cumbria, selling seasonal fish, game and stuffed poultry. They also have a stall in Borough Market, where their fish deliveries arrive every Friday and Saturday morning. Some of it goes into the giant seafood 'bomba paella' dish that signposts their inviting and always busy hut.

Amongst the fattened rice grains you'll find the likes of chicken, chorizo, mussels, Cornish squid rings and Madagascan tiger prawns, and you can get it served alongside a monthly changing curry - a half-and-half dish of sorts.

During my visit is was a mildly spiced and slightly sweet Malaysian chicken curry, with carrots and baby potatoes. Filling, tasty and exceedingly satisfying, I consider it one of the best value options amidst the maze that is Borough Market.
